Malacca Riverside
The entire city of Malacca is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the oldest cities in the area. The city is located in a strategic trading route between Asia and the Middle East / Europe / Africa. This was our last stop in Malaysia before going to Singapore.

Jonker Street
Jonker Street is the central street of Malacca’s Chinatown. It’s got a lot of shops, restaurants, and a fun weekend night market. Jonker street and the couple surrounding blocks are where we ended up spending a lot of our time in Malacca.

Kampung Kling Mosque and Harmony Street
Kampung Kling Mosque is located on Jalan Tukang Emas (translation: “Harmony Street”). It got the name “Harmony Street” because of the three religious buildings all right next to each other: Kampung Kling Mosque, Sri Poyatha Moorthi Temple, and Cheng Hoon Teng Temple. The architecture of the mosque is a very interesting blend of Malay, Hindu, Chinese, and Sumatran influences. We explored the Kampung Kling Mosque and Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, but Sri Poyatha Moorthi Temple seemed closed for visitors at the time we were there.

Baked Goodies, Malacca Edition: Nyonya Pineapple Tarts and Portuguese Egg Tarts
The Nyonya people are ethnic Chinese who have lived in the Malacca straits area for a very long time. They also have Portuguese cultural influences. We were exposed to Nyonya cuisine through the baked goods you can find everywhere in Malacca. We especially loved the the pineapple tarts — they are crazy delicious.
